Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take?

Lash Extensions - Depending on your service, a full set should take 2 - 2.5 hours. This also depends on how many natural lashes you have. It is always best to allow the full 2.5 hours just incase. I would hate to have rushed your lashes & you leave not 100% happy.
Lash Lift - Approx 1hr 15mins
Brow Services - 30mins - 1hr

How long do lash extensions last?

Lash extensions should fall out with your natural lashes & you can lose 3-5 per day. To maintain fullness, it is recommended to book a refill every 2-3 weeks. It is also important to follow the after care instructions to prolong the retention of your extensions.

Will lash extensions ruin my natural lashes?

If applied correctly with a safe weight, they will not ruin your natural lashes. However, picking & pulling your extensions will ruin your natural lashes.
At TGLB we have taken extensive trainings around isolation and natural lash health which is our top priority when lashing our clients.

Can I wear makeup when I have lash extensions?

Yes (NO MASCARA!). But be aware that products will build up along your lash line if you do not clean them properly when removing your makeup. Make sure to remove your make up carefully with the cleanser we stock in our salon along with the brush.

Does it hurt?

Lash Extensions - Definitely not! The application should be comfortable all the way through. I make sure I have placed the eye pads on correctly so they don’t rub on your eye and that the glue has set before allowing you to open your eyes so no fumes can get in and make them water. If you ever feel uncomfortable during your appointment, I urge you to let me know so we can assess the irritation.

Lash Lifts & Brows- Not at all!

Is it safe to get lash extensions if I’m pregnant?

If you have previously had lash extensions before getting pregnant, it is fine to continue this. The adhesive used in the application is high quality and low fume adhesive. The extensions are only adhered to the natural lash and don't touch the skin. The chance of a reaction is very low. Lashes are a bonus for the photos taken moments after delivery.

When being pregnant your body is going through so many physical and hormonal changes, and everyone goes through these changes differently.

Your hair growth changes - Sometimes your hair and nails are renewing themselves in overdrive, which will have you getting refills a lot sooner than you normally would. This is normal, it just means that your lashes are regenerating a lot faster than normal. When your baby bump starts getting bigger, and you find it hard to lay on your back, I will be able to do one eye at a time, with you laying on one side at a time. One way to combat the situation of being uncomfortable during the application process is to get refills more regularly, so that you don't need to be in your appointment for so long.

If you do notice that during pregnancy you start to develop slight intolerances to any products you should bring it up with me and we can consider if it would be best to have a break and resume your extensions after you've given birth.

I don’t think I can lay still for 2 hours…

I’ve been there and it’s a challenge! My salon bed is super comfy and has 3 layers of cushioning. I also provide a blanket if you would like to get more comfortable. If your back needs more support, we can pop a pillow underneath to provide more comfort. There’s always music playing softly in the salon but feel free to also bring headphones for ultimate you-time. If you forget to bring headphones, feel free to pop on your favourite music or podcast / audiobook through my speaker to help you relax. I loveeee listening to new things so don’t be afraid to ask. Lash naps are also a massive compliment so feel free to fall asleep. Snoring is welcome. Or, use me as a therapy session and chat away! The time goes faster - trust me!

Should I give my natural lashes a break?

It is not necessary to give natural lashes a break in between eyelash extension sessions when they are applied correctly. Eyelash extensions won't make your natural lashes fall out any faster than they would normally - the natural lashes are simply following their growth cycle. However at your refill appointments, I will be able to assess the health of your lashes based on the growth cycle and shorter or thinner lashes may be suggested.

Do you refill other lash artists work?

Yes. Lash artists have unique ways that they lash and your refills may not look perfect the first time as each salon uses different brands of lashes, curls, glue etc. Due to this, I prefer not to refill others work. It can also be hard if lashes from a previous salon have not been applied correctly. If this is the case, we will recommend a removal and a full set.
Feel free to send me a photo of your lashes if you need a refill from another salon and I can assess the application and quality and we can go from there.
Please also note, it may take 2-3 lash fills to get your lashes to The Gemini Lash Bar standard when refilling other lash artists work.

Can I bring someone to my appointment ?

As salon is only small, it is preferred that you come alone to your appointment. If you need to bring someone with you, please let me know beforehand. In regards to children, my space is not suitable / safe for them. Please organise accordingly as I won't be able to watch them and lash you at the same time, even if they're playing on your phone. Plus it’s you-time and you deserve to relax.

How do I remove my extensions if I no longer want them?

Do not remove them at home - make a booking so that they can be professionally removed so there is no damage to your natural lashes.

SILENT APPOINMENT

Mental health is so important. I understand it can be daunting going to an appointment with someone you don't know. Please know that it's okay and there will be absolutely no judgement if you'd prefer a "Silent Appointment"

For ease, I have created a "Silent Appointment" category in my booking system for you to select if you wish to include this into your appointment :).
